Hi, my name is Esteban García. I'm a new media artist and educator. I have a BFA in Time-Based and Electronic Media from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia and an MFA in Electronic and Time Based Media from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
I am currently a PhD student in the department of Computer Graphics at Purdue. In this area, I'm developing a research in art, technology and interactivity under Dr. La Verne Harris and Dr. Craig Miller in the Idea Laboratory.
A native of Bogotá, Colombia, I moved to the United States after working in the field of web-design subsequent to earning my bachelor's degree. I pursued an MFA to gain teaching experience, and also to develop my creative interests. I have knowledge and experience in interactive systems, programing, video-editing and internet technologies. For example, I've worked a project entitled "Radio Chigüiro" that involves making weekly radio shows and a 24/7 broadcast. I've also done extensive work as a VJ in live music performances with my self-made video synthesizer called "Crunchy Vision".
My work has been recognized internationally based on my participation on artistic workshops, residencies (Colombia and Venezuela), and curated art shows including: KM0 Urbano (Bolivia), Testigos (México), Salón Nacional de Artistas 2008 (Colombia)
